Representatives from Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) across the world will come together in Helsinki, Finland on 27-28th February 2014 for World NGO Day.

World NGO Day is a global movement and annual event that was first established in 2010, with the aim of driving change through the work and power of innovative NGOs.

The event is a platform for NGO leaders, supporters, philanthropists and mentors to exchange ideas and encourage collaboration with peers. Addressing the theme of ‘Opportunities for a new generation of NGOs’, delegates will explore how they can engage new audiences and entrepreneurs, raising awareness about the work of NGOs at a local, national and international level.

“NGOs have always been at the forefront of social movements and changes”, says Andris Piebalgs, European Commissioner for Development at the European Commission. “The European Commission greatly values their willingness to act, their independence and above all their deep and genuine concern for the well-being of the communities they serve."
